The pole pivot is a transfer process developed for a stroke victim who had strength in one arm. A gait belt is placed around the legs to keep them together. The pole is placed between the gait belt between the knees. The patient holds the pole with the good arm while the caregiver uses the pole as leverage to tip and rotate the patient to the new position. Requires arm strength in patient. Not for every patient.
